Yogomans rocksteady revue with winston jarrett mt shasta 9 24
Hello my lovely YOGO people,
We are bringing YOGOMAN's Rocksteady Revue with Reggae Legend Winston Jarrett down the west coast to play at the Dub Club @ the Echoplex in Los Angeles with the Skatalites!  This is big news for YOGOMAN to play thee largest Reggae Night in the United States that hosts all the great Jamaican artists and a lot of my musical heros. This is also our third time playing with the first Ska band of all time, the Skatalites (Bellingham, Seattle, and now Los Angeles)! What's cooler than that??? One of my musical heroes Winston "Flames" Jarrett asked YOGOMAN and his Burning Band to back him and book a tour down the west coast with him. This is a great honor to me as I have been loving Winston's music for the last 15 years and just discovered that he was living in Seattle where we met when opening for the Skatalites on their 50th Anniversary Tour in Seattle in 2014.  For those of you who don't know your Jamaican music history, Rocksteady was a golden period of love, peace, unity and anti-Rude Boy songs from 1966-68 just after the Ska period in Jamaica. if I had to pick a single genre of music I love more than any, Rocksteady would be my choice.  So I am thrilled to be able to play some of my favorite Jamaican tunes and mix in some YOGOMAN tunes that fit the bill while backing Winston with my Burning Band.  That's the good news!

We are so fortunate to be able to play music with Winston who worked closely with Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Alton Ellis, Delroy Wilson, Justin Hinds, etc. as a songwriter, singer, and composer still singing while many of his compatriots have passed on. Winston has pursued a career as an independent artist. Winston never stopped singing since he began in the 60's. "Flames" has an extensive discography that is quite impressive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winston_Jarrett

After working on booking this tour non stop for many months, I was only able to confirm a handful of shows in a few markets up and down the west coast. So, if anyone of you wants to have us for a private party, house party, community event, play at your school or kid's school, your church, favorite local brewery, coffeehouse, whatever, we are really looking to play music for the next few weeks and spread the joy vs. collecting dust on the beach, though I guess it would be sand, and that doesn't sound too bad (hmmm). Here are the tour dates and we are willing to travel from any location we are in to get to your party/event within reason. Let me know at yogomanbooking@gmail.com or shoot me a call at 206.617.5487 if you have a connection or idea you'd like to help facilitate/manifest. We will also be looking for hosts/lodging along the way, so regardless of if we play we would like to have a warm place to stay along the way. We are travelling with a 75 year old man after all but we are strong and none of us are above sleeping on floors (though we would love a bed or a couch if you have).

Here are the dates so far and initial projected routing, though we are willing to change route if we have a viable opportunity presented:
9/23 Portland, OR @ Alberta Rose Theater (confirmed)
9/24 Mount Shasta, CA @ Mount Shasta Vets Club (confirmed)

10/14 Arcata, CA // Humbrews (confirmed)
10/15 Coos Bay/Manzanita/Oregon Coast?? // TBA

We have been working so hard on this music to do it the justice it deserves and Thank YOU profusely for considering to help us fill in any dates with your connections or sheer interest at hearing some beautiful Rocksteady dance music in your hometown wherever you are on the West coast.  We love you and hope to see you out there. Stay tuned to www.yogoman.com or www.facebook.com/yogomanburningband for the latest updates to our tour schedule.

Peace, Love, Unity, Blessings and BIG thanks to you all for believing in the power of positive music with YOGOMAN & Winston Jarrett - Jordan Rain/Yogoman

P.S.- here is a cool short documentary on Winston that was just released pretty recently and gives window to the character and big beautiful soul that he is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGza1fC2IN0

Jordan Rain's Seattle - Jamaica - New Orleans Dance band, YOGOMAN, compells audiences to get up and dance with shout outs, sing a longs, and call and response lyrics while delivering quality music.  Rain leads his world class band from the drum set through a variety of syncopated styles- Ska, Reggae, RnB, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, Latin, and New Orleans Jazz/ Brass Band music.  These rhythmically complex genres require a supernatural talent to simultaneously sing and drum. Thus far Rain has written, arranged and produced 4 albums with YOGOMAN (Burning Band) and 2 solo albums in his career.  As a family man, Rain highlights and tours with his talented musical family and a has brought a great lineage of star musicians to the stage over the years. YOGOMAN rehearsals and shows have educated both band and audience members alike to the subtlety of Jamaican Roots Music genres that Rain has been a vinyl DJ of since 1999. Other world class greats that have shared the stage with YOGOMAN are Toots & The Maytals, the Skatalites, Third World, Clinton Fearon (of the Gladiators), Pato Banton, Junior Reid, etc.

"...It's ALWAYS a good idea to spin a Yogoman track. Positive lyrics, infectious melodies, stellar musicianship...just great, great songs. They've gone from being unknown to KHUM listeners to being possibly the most requested band during my shift."
-Larry Trask/DJ, KHUM.com/104.7 FM

"If your not having a good time to YOGOMAN's music, you have to ask yourself, do I know how to have a good time?" - Sam Beam of Iron and Wine

YOGOMAN (Band), DJ YOGOMAN (specializing in Jamaican and Soul vinyl), and YOGOMAN & Bongo Jac (Guitar/Bongo/Vocal duo) are available for Private Parties, Weddings, Festivals, Clubs, All-Ages Events and Celebrations of any occasion.

Hey guys saw your trailer today and got a big chuckle. I'm from Idaho, and a Shoshoni-bannock, anyways in shoshoni, the word 'yogo' refers to fucking in the language. It's slang now mostly. So it was hilarious to see that on your trailer.!! Had to Facebook it so people back home will get a hoot out of it too.. Thanks guys!

Hey Jordan, tell the wife and son hello. I love the CD and I want buy one. I believe indie artists should uplift each every way possible, if possible. It was wonderful chatting with you and the family and I hope to see you again in LV. CD is in rotation in my ride. Food Bank Lady, baby!

Yogoman! You are definitely one of my new favorites. I love your unique, fun sound. Couldn't not dance during the show at Quixotes last night. Just wish we could have stayed longer. I see you're sticking around CO for a few more days for a house party. Don't be a stranger, come back to Denver soon! Touring and playing such fun music is truly living the dream. What advice would you have for someone with no musical talent that has recently realized he'd rather give up real work and tour making and playing music? Where to start?
